About The Author

I have been lucky enough to have travelled extensively around Southern Africa, working as a photographic safari guide, as well as vacationing with my long-time partner, Claire. Along the way, I have worked with some of the best in the business, from whom I have learnt a great deal and am sincerely grateful.

I started the ‘Best of Africa’ community in 2012 with the intention of providing a safe and judgement-free platform for young and upcoming amateur photographers to showcase their work. The response we’ve received since has been nothing short of spectacular, and has resulted in my writing of this guide.

    Playing with Light

Posted by Gaynor Badenhorst on 21st Aug 2017

I just love this book. It has so much useful information in it and the way the different uses of light are explained are fantastic. As a relatively new photographer this book has given me so much more insight into how light may be used in order to achieve "wow" photos. It's going to take a lot of practice but I can see it's also going to be such fun! I'll definitely post my first "wow" photo. Thank you Chad - I now have all your books - please don't stop writing.

The journey with light starts here

Posted by Graeme Hochschild on 13th Dec 2016

Congratulations, This guide is a fantastic tool to use for those who are starting out in our awesome profession. Photography is amazing and one can never stop learning, but this is where the journey begins. You have made the guide so easy to understand and left out all the technical jargon that one would be put off with. Everything in this guide is straight to the point, and that I love.

    A fantastic job, well done!
